About This Blog

Welcome to the Amateur’s Compendium. By which I mean that I love many things, but am a professional in few, if any, of the things I enjoy pondering and writing about. This blog is a place for me to muse, share a recipe, and update inquiring minds on General Abraham Doings.

Posts may include, but are not limited to, ponderings on Medieval literature and history, recipes I couldn’t help tinkering with, thoughts on our journey through general surgery residency and trauma/critical care fellowship, and general musings about life, culture, and theology.

It’s said that theology comes out your fingertips, and my hope is that whatever I write, whether sharing a recipe, reflecting on my husband’s and my vocations, or analyzing a bit of Beowulf, my fides quaerens intellectum will be foundation of all that I do.

Someday, I may choose to focus this blog on one particular topic–food, or perhaps Medieval and Renaissance writings, but for now I’m going to be perfectly self-indulgent and write about whatever I jolly well please.

Happy Perusing!

P.S. If you’re wondering about the blog name, go read T. S. Eliot’s Four Quartets.
